"Scent of Death"

My contest entry for :iconclubkenshin:

One of the conditions was to draw the Hitokiri version of Kenshin. So I tried and since I always loved that tragic side of the story, I couldn't help but throwing in Tomoe (or rather her ghost) as well.
I hope this works?:B

Since Kenshin is my favourite Manga, he needs more attention from me...much more...*sigh* What have I been doing all this time (can exams be really MORE important than him...?)?!

Anyway. I hope to post more pictures soon. I'm on vacation, babez :w00t:

EDIT: Right, so I know that Tomoe is actually a little taller than Kenshin but with this concept I preferred to make him the tall one (seems manlier and stuff). I'll hope you'll forgive this inacurracy^^;

Lol, one of the things I really like about the KT couple is that she is both older and taller than him. XD I think it's cute and cool that he's still able to be the manly protector despite that. :)

I like this young version of Kenshin, and I'm glad you included Tomoe! Even though they are separated in a way, they still manage to be together. ^^

Aw. Poor Tomoe.
I love Kaoru, but... I feel bad for Tomoe, too. DX
I like the effects you did with this. The lighting is nice, and brings attention to Tomoe without being too obvious. And the petals in Kenshin's other hand are a nice touch. (Or is it something else? I'm just assuming they're sakura petals...)
Kenshin does look very manly in this, actually. Normally he looks a wee bit girly (which is okay) but he looks nice this way, too. Hee hee. (I just like long hair on a guy, actually.)
Definitely going in my favorites. :)

Ah, sorry. I just discovered your comment^^; I feel the same about Kaoru and Tomoe. Before I didn't like the idea of a love-rival for Kaoru but I guess that I'm fine if it's Tomoe. She's been through a lot after all.
The stuff that is falling down into his hand are petals, yes. I meant for them to symbolize Tomoe, so I drew them as white plum petals...it was a weird idea that came out not so nicely XD

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! It is highly appreciated :)

Lol, it has been a while since I wrote that. That's exactly my thoughts on the matter. While part of me kind of wishes Kaoru was Kenshin's only love, I realize Tomoe was important to him, too.
And white plum petals does make more sense. Thanks for clarifying that.^^ They looked a little pink, and sakura flowers are a common symbol for the samurai... but white plum definitely would make Kenshin think of Tomoe.
And you're welcome. :D

Whoah. It took me a moment to notice Tomoe's apparition there: ethereal, ghastly, but tragically serene. It reminds me quite a bit of the scene in the OVA where Tomoe's ghost wraps her arms around a Kenshin resting beneath a tree. If anything, I think Tomoe is just kneeling down and grasping Kenshin comfortingly-- almost seeking to pull him back-- than standing still and tall.

Nice depiction of the Battosai. You capture both the atmosphere of melancholy well with the surroundings-- and the glimmer of hope of the petals lifting itself away from his fingers.

Thank you! That scene from the OVA is exactly what I was thinking of, when I drew this. Amazing that you notcied

I really appreciate that you took some time to actually type out such a nice comment :D
